2021 Jeep Renegade vs 2021 Jeep Cherokee

Serving Gillette, WY

The sporty Renegade is one of the newer additions to Jeep's crossover SUV line. While it has been available for several years, you may not be as familiar with it as you are with the popular Jeep Cherokee. As smaller crossovers with several shared familial traits, you can appreciate impressive similarities between them. However, the 2021 Jeep Renegade and the 2021 Cherokee have notable differences that define their individuality. What should you know about these Jeep crossovers before you choose your next vehicle?

Performance

A 1.3-liter turbo engine powers the Renegade's lower trim levels. Both the Renegade and the Cherokee share a Tigershark 2.4-liter Multiair 2 engine option. The Cherokee is also available with a 2.0-liter turbo engine and a Pentastar V6, 3.2-liter engine. You can appreciate the functionality that comes with their trail-rated badging and available four-wheel drive drivetrain behind the wheel of these models. Active Drive I, Active Drive II, and Active Drive Lock are only available with the 2021 Cherokee.

Appearance

The recognizable style of the 2021 Renegade is comparable to the Wrangler in many ways. It has round lights, a boxy profile, thick molding, and squared wheel wheels. However, it also has smooth definition across the sides and hood, raised roof rails, and other desired features. The 2021 Jeep Cherokee, on the other hand, takes design cues from the Compass and the Grand Cherokee. It has a more traditional crossover SUV profile and angled LED lights, and sharp definition down the sides.

Features

The more affordable Renegade has a molded, tall dashboard with several desired features available in different trims inside the cabin. The Cherokee's interior has a modern feel with a subtle angle through the top of the dashboard. Both models may have Apple CarPlay, power door locks, Android Auto, an automatic climate control system, SiriusXM, remote vehicle access, and other thoughtful features.
