2020 Jeep Renegade vs 2021 Ford Bronco Sport

Serving Gillette, WY

The 2020 Jeep Renegade is a small crossover SUV that was introduced for the 2015 model year and has seen multiple updates since that time. It's perfectly suited for everyday driving as well as off-road adventures, and it's available in a wide number of trims with numerous package options. This makes the Renegade easy to customize to suit every driver's specific needs and desires. The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is an all-new small crossover SUV with fewer trim options and a much higher starting price than the Renegade. However, because of their similarities in their appearance and available performance, many drivers are cross-shopping these SUVs. Let's explore the main differences between these models, so you can make an informed decision about your next vehicle.

The 2020 Jeep Renegade is available with two engine options. The standard engine is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which produces 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The other engine choice, which is optional on the Sport and Latitude trims and comes standard on the Limited and Trailhawk trims, is a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 177 horsepower and bumps up the torque figure to 210 pound-feet. All Renegade models come with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport comes standard with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that produces 181 horsepower, which is essentially the same amount of power as the Renegade. A more powerful engine is available, but only on the more expensive, high-end trims.

For the 2020 Renegade, four-wheel drive is optional on all trims - except for the rugged Trailhawk trim where it comes standard. For the 2021 Bronco Sport, four-wheel drive is standard on all models, which inflates the starting price of the vehicle.

The 2020 Jeep Renegade's Sport trim is the base model, and standard features include a 60/40-split-folding rear seat, a 5-inch touchscreen, and a 6-speaker sound system. An upgraded 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is available and comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Compatibility, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen system that adds navigation as well is available on higher trims. On the Renegade Latitude and up, a sunroof is optional, and on all trims, you can opt for the My Sky sunroof panels, which are removable and can be stored in the back of the vehicle. This creates an open roof experience similar to that of the rugged Jeep Wrangler. Ultimately, the Renegade is available with a large variety of packages and options, so you can build out the exact SUV you want for your ideal price.

For the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport, you'll get an 8-inch touchscreen that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On higher trims, navigation is optional as well. Standard features are more heavily associated with trims, so the Bronco Sport is more expensive with fewer configurations available.

Both the Renegade and Bronco Sport offer abundant headroom in the front and back thanks to their classic, boxy shapes. The Renegade lets you fold the rear seats and passenger seat flat, which allows for longer items to be carried. The Bronco Sport can also carry longer items by flipping the rear glass window open, but this is less ideal overall.
