Performance

The Compass and the Cherokee both carry Jeep's trail-rated certification. They are outfitted with solid mechanical features to excel in maneuverability, articulation, water fording, traction, and ground clearance. The Compass comes with a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine that produces 180 horsepower. The Cherokee is available with this same engine or with your choice of two other powertrains. One of these is a 2.0-liter turbo engine that produces 270 horsepower. The other engine is a Pentastar 3.2-liter, V6 engine that generates 271 horsepower.

Appearance

You can find Jeep family traits across the Compass and the Cherokee. These include vertical bars running through a stretched grille and raised roof rails. These compact crossovers have black body molding, chrome accents, and striking definition over the hood and sides. The Compass has a black grille with a straight angle that edges toward the hood. The Cherokee's grille has a smooth bend through the horizontal center. Its small foglamps and lower-front fascia have metallic accents. This model also has standard features like LED headlights and brake lights.

Features

There are substantial differences between the Compass's equipment and the Cherokee's features on a trim-by-trim basis. Overall, however, these two Jeep models have many of the same features.
